The H.E.P.A. Filter
Originally developed by the Atomic Energy Commission during World War II for the removal of radioactive dust, remains the Highest Efficiency Filter available on the market today!
The H.E.P.A. Filter consists of a high efficiency pleated media to remove particles from the air. The H.E.P.A. filter maintains its efficiency over its two-to five year life. It is 99.97% efficient by particle count at a size of 0.3 microns, which is 1-75,000 of an inch, or 1/300 the diameter of a human hair. It becomes more efficient both above and below the 0.3 micron particle size. The H.E.P.A. requires no cleaning or maintenance to maintain its efficiency. Studies have indicated that H.E.P.A. filters increase in efficiency with use.
To quote RESPIRATORY CARE Magazine:
The superior efficiency of the H.E.P.A. devices, plus their ability to filter without production of toxic ozone, are sufficient arguments in themselves to urge their use in lieu of the older electronic air cleaners.
